Anything involving someone under 18

EQUALS is open to people from 13, so this is the line we hold hardest.

EQUALS is open to people from 13, so this is the line we hold hardest.

Some of this is handled for you. Adults and under-18s can't send each other direct messages in either direction, and users under 18 can only direct message people within a year of their own age. Chatrooms are open to everyone, which means people of all ages are reading them — write in them accordingly.

There is no context, and no relationship, in which any of this is acceptable:

  • Sexual imagery of anyone under 18. This applies whoever sent it — including images a minor has produced of themselves — and includes AI-generated, deepfaked and edited imagery.

  • Sending sexual content to someone under 18, or asking someone under 18 for it — in a direct message or in a room. Consent, being a similar age, and how long you've been talking make no difference.

  • Asking a user under 18 for their home address, school, workplace or where they are right now.

  • Holding a false age — an adult claiming to be under 18, someone under 18 claiming to be older, or anyone under 13 on the app at all.

Accounts are removed immediately, and where the law requires it we report to the relevant authorities. If you're 13 to 17 and you tell someone your real age, that is never a violation. If someone approaches you like this, report them — nothing is recorded against you for having been on the receiving end of it.
